Author Topic: Honda (or whatever they will be called) to make the first 4 races  (Read 1553 times)

Offline Scott

From F1 Live:

The team currently known as Honda will be in Melbourne, but has secured enough backing to guarantee its presence at only the subsequent three Grand Prix according to one report.

The Guardian on Friday agreed with speculation and reports that an immediate solution to the Brackley-based squad's situation, following the withdrawal of owner, sponsor and engine supplier Honda, has been found.

But, citing sources 'close to the' team, the British newspaper said the secured $30m funds, in part thanks to Brazilian sponsors backing the rookie Bruno Senna, may get Honda to only Australia, Malaysia, China and Bahrain.

The report also claims Senna and Jenson Button will be powered by Mercedes-Benz V8 engines.

I thought Honda had said they wouldn't sell
unless the team had funds to keep it going

Sounds like less of a sale and more of a Fly, oops, Fry management team takeover.

Honda will probably retain title to anything of value but let the management self fund the operation to see how it gets on. Then after a few months if the new crew can't keep the funding going Honda could still sell everthing to another party having kept faith with the current team.

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:  The good news, if this report is true,
is that Jens and the new car by Brawn will be
on the grid in Melbourne.  :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

The bad news is Bruno gets a seat he doesn't deserve

Bruno is hardly the first driver to get a seat he didn't deserve. And Mercedes has indicated their willingness to supply engines, if Honda gets on board soon. Personally I smell another Team Aguri. Honda falls ever lower in my esteem.

I wonder what they'll call themselves:

Not Honda, or maybe Honnot.

More Money, Bruno

Just think how much Honda could have saved if
they had gotten rid of Frye and turned the operation
over to Arguri.

The team would have been saved and who lnows with
a little extra dough SA might have a win under their
belt!!!Wishful thinking but Cos will like reading it

Actually, that sounds like a really good idea, which means that is why it didn't happen!

Honda's a tough nut to crack, eh?  In hindsight, they should have just shut down the A team and let Aguri get on with it with a fraction of the investment - then they would still have a presense in F1 and might even have made a few surprises this coming season (or last, for that matter).

They would have got on a lot better if they had not abandoned sponsorship.  That way Fr would have had to deal with disgruntled sponsors when the performance was bad and that may have motivated him to do something about it.  Instead he was having too much fun on his environmental crusade to sort the team out.

You can't be evangelical and effective.

I second that and would add that he was not even effective as an evangelist! >:(
