Jimmy Stewart, the older brother of Jackie and the man responsible for generating his interest in racing and putting Jackie and Ken Tyrrell together has died at the age of 76.  Jimmy is best known for racing sportscars particularly with the legendary Ecurie Ecosse team.  He retired from racing at a young age due to family pressure after a couple of serious accidents.  By all accounts he was a very useful driver who never realised his true potential due to his early retirement.

By co-incidence I am reading Winning is not Enough, Jackie Stewart's autobiography just now.  In it he mentions that jimmy is still such a smooth driver that his Ford Focus is still on its original brake pads after 56,000 miles.

Sad to hear Jimmy's death and I am sure he was a first class driver however the empty roads in Scotland might just have helped a bit on brake wear on the Focus.
